Masonry comparison (assumption)

kg/m²
Editable assumption — no verified brick-masonry figure exists in the Technopol data set. Enter your own supplier’s / engineer’s figure; the comparison in card 4 is only as good as this input.

1 · Block & mortar quantities

LiteCore blocks required
Net wall area
Blocks per m² (derived)
LiteCore Bond mortar
Block mass basis (input)
Blocks per m² is a geometric derivation from the certified 1200 × 340 mm block face — Technopol publishes no blocks-per-m² figure. Interlocking tongue-and-groove blocks are laid in stretcher bond with LiteCore Bond thin-bed adhesive mortar. Confirm quantities with Technopol before ordering.

2 · Render / skin coats, both faces

Total render area (both faces)
Area per face
Fibreglass mesh (5 mm aperture)
LiteCore Plast — face A
LiteCore Plast — face B
Certified minimum LiteCore Plast thickness: 12 mm external face / 5 mm internal faces, on woven fibreglass mesh (5 mm apertures). Volumes are at the entered thickness with no wastage or mesh-overlap allowance; plaster consumption in kg is not published — confirm coverage with Technopol. Do not plaster a large wall within 14 days of construction (plastering guideline).

3 · Thermal performance (certified)

Whole-wall R-value (certified)
U-value = 1 / R (derived)
EPS core component R (derived)
Heat loss @ ΔT = 10 K (derived)

4 · Wall weight vs conventional masonry

LiteCore wall (blocks + mortar)
Comparison masonry (your input)
Total LiteCore wall mass
Mass saved vs comparison
Self-weight comparison, net wall area
LiteCore side uses the entered block mass (default = the brochure-published 18 kg/block; measured 28-day masses ran 18.8–22.2 kg mix-dependent) and the entered mortar rate; render is excluded (plaster density unpublished). The masonry side is your own assumption — no verified brick-wall kg/m² exists in the Technopol data set. The certified block density band is 400–450 kg/m³, but measured 28-day QC dry densities ran 494–597 kg/m³ — confirm the production mass with Technopol before relying on the comparison.

Disclaimer. This tool gives indicative quantities for estimating and comparison only. The LiteCore Building System is non-load-bearing infill walling used inside a light-steel frame designed to SANS 517 or a reinforced-concrete frame (rebar to SANS 920; concrete to SANS 10100-1/-2), erected under the control of a professional engineer / approved competent person. Walls exceeding 3500 mm in any dimension, and all multi-storey use, are the responsibility of an approved competent engineer (Agrément certificate 2020/609, amended March 2021). Blocks-per-m² is derived from the certified block face, the mortar rate is the brochure figure (3 kg/m²) and the block mass is mix-dependent (brochures publish 18 kg; measured 28-day masses ran 18.8–22.2 kg) — confirm all quantities with Technopol before ordering. Check the certificate’s Active status at agrement.co.za before relying on it.

Fire. The Agrément certificate classifies external walls as non-combustible (type FRR) with a 120-minute fire-resistance rating under deemed-to-satisfy rule TT2.1(a) of SANS 10400 — a certificate classification, not a current independent fire-resistance test. The separately tested NuClad LiteCore LSF wall system achieved FR60 (stability / integrity / insulation 60 min) to SANS 10177-2 (FIRELAB report FT 24/003, subject to its own caveats). The EPS core is thermoplastic: in multi-storey work provide horizontal cavity breaks at each floor level and vertical breaks at least every 5 m; back-to-back service installations are not permitted in any dividing wall.
