Block-body density is not published (“mid-density FR EPS”) — assumed value, used for handling-weight estimates only.

Typical one-way detail (dimensioned CAD drawing): #190 block + 65 mm topping = 255 mm structural depth; ribs 160 mm wide at 660 mm centres (500 mm block face between ribs); 2 × Y12 per rib; REF 193 mesh; lintels, bearing and propping per the project structural engineer.

1 · Technoblock quantities

Technoblocks required
Blocks per m² (derived)
Bundles (30 / bundle)
End caps (free, 6 per 5 blocks)
Extenders (1 covers 4 blocks)
Blocks per m² is a geometric derivation from the dimensioned CAD module (rib centres × block width) — it is not a published Technopol figure. Confirm quantities with Technopol before ordering.

2 · Concrete volume

Topping
Ribs (approx. from geometry)
Total concrete
Rib volume is approximated as the full rib width × void depth (this includes the pre-cast lintel section within the rib). Reinforcement, mesh and grout losses are excluded. With extenders, ribs are assumed to run the full void depth — extender cross-section is unpublished, so this is a conservative approximation.

3 · Self-weight vs equivalent solid slab

Rib-and-block slab self-weight
Solid RC slab, same depth

4 · Block handling weight (estimate)

One block (estimated)
One bundle of 30 (estimated)
Block weight is not published and the body density is unverified — these are geometric estimates at the assumed density. The brochure claim is qualitative: much lighter than cement “ash” blocks, easier to handle, less labour time. All EPS is combustible — keep blocks away from open flame during storage, handling and installation before casting.

Disclaimer. This tool gives indicative quantities for estimating and comparison only. The Technoblock is non-structural permanent shuttering: rib spacing, topping thickness, reinforcement, propping and allowable spans are set by the project structural engineer — Technopol publishes no span or load tables for the #120 / #190 catalogue. Blocks-per-m² is derived from the dimensioned CAD module and block weights are estimates (body density unpublished); confirm both with Technopol before ordering. Equivalent-solid-slab comparison uses the same overall depth at γc as entered.

Fire. Technoblocks are moulded from flame-retardant (FR) EPS; the FR-EPS grade holds a current SANS 53501-1 reaction-to-fire classification of B-s1,d0 (report IT 23-08-00009). Reaction-to-fire is not a fire-resistance rating: no FRxx rating is claimed for the block itself, and fire resistance of the finished floor is a property of the complete engineered slab, in which the EPS is fully encased in concrete. Not an Agrément-certified line.
