LiteSpanCeiling & Wall Panels

Steel-faced insulated panels — EPS, PIR or stone-wool core — for insulated ceilings and internal walls. NuClad is the single-skin member of the family: a LiteSpan panel laminated on one face only, Chromadek on the face, bare EPS or a radiant barrier on the back.

LiteSpan is Technopol's factory-laminated composite sandwich panel — two coated-steel (Chromadek) skins bonded with PU adhesive to an insulating core — supplied in two core families (FRCel fire-retarded EPS and non-combustible Stone Wool) as double tongue-and-groove interlocking wall and ceiling boards.

Build-upComposite sandwich: two coated-steel (Chromadek) skins + PU adhesive over insulating coredouble tongue & groove interlocking. Two core families: FRCel fire-retarded EPS and resin-bonded Stone Wool
Core thermal conductivity (λ)FRCel EPS core 0.035, Technopol declared (material value, not a flat-panel test); Stone Wool core ≤0.035 declared by the core supplier W/m·Kthat datasheet is a board value and the core is laid as a lamella, which typically raises λ (see footnote)SANS 54509 / TS EN 12667

Reaction-to-fire classFRCel EPS core: B-s1,d0 (Euroclass)Technopol's own declaration, extrapolated from a 150 mm flat capped specimen (Ignis IT 24-06-00029), across the panel range, profiled or flat, cores to 150 mm. Separately, this board itself (FR Cel 12DV, both sides laminated, 1140 mm) was classified B/B1/2/H to SANS 10177-11 (FIRELAB FTC 19/117), cores to 120 mm, panel ends encapsulated in 100 mm of mineral wool. Stone Wool core: A1 (non-combustible). None of these is a fire-resistance ratingSANS 53501-1 (Technopol declaration, extrapolated from Ignis IT 24-06-00029) & SANS 10177-11 (FIRELAB FTC 19/117, this board); Stone Wool: A1
Fire-resistance rating (Stone Wool assemblies)100 mm wall on a 100 kg/m³ core: FR60 (fixed joint) / FR30 (unfixed joint); double-studded firewall (±195 mm) on a 120 kg/m³ core: FR120 minutesall non-load-bearing and self-supporting. Each rating applies to its tested assembly onlySANS 10177-2

Applicable standardsSANS 10177-11 & -10 (reaction-to-fire), SANS 10177-2 (fire resistance), SANS 54509 (sandwich-panel ITT)TS EN 826/1602/1607/12667/13501-1 (Stone Wool)
Special core depths, made to order175 and 200 mm for a specific project - not stock, not on the price list mmThey sit BEYOND the tested depth: the SANS 54509 ITT specimen was 125 mm, so spans are CALCULATED on the EN 14509 form rather than read off a type test, and are quoted against a project-specific check. Send the span, the design load, single or continuous, and the purlin flange width. Above roughly 1,5 kPa a deeper core buys almost nothing on a 75 mm flange - support crushing governs there and it does not improve with depth, so a wider bearing does more than a thicker panelSANS 54509 (EN 14509) limit states; ITT OTH-T-2309-04 for the tested depth

FRCel EPS core density and compressive strength (10% deformation) are not independently confirmed for this flat 1145 mm panel. The only measured figures in the corpus (~21 kg/m³, 110 kPa) come from OTH-T-2309-04, a SANS 54509 ITT on the 125 mm 990 IBR ROOF panel — a profiled panel whose test specimens included EPS rib inserts (density) and were tested through the profiled face with load-spreading spacers (compressive strength). Per that report's own §14, results do not transfer to a different product. A declared value for the flat wall/ceiling board has not been found in a primary Technopol datasheet. EPS reaction-to-fire class B/B1/2/H to SANS 10177-11 (FIRELAB FTC 19/117) covers this board itself — product code FR Cel 12DV, EPS laminated to Chromadek on both sides, tested at 120 mm x 1140 mm x 6 m — for thicknesses to 120 mm, panel ends encapsulated in 100 mm of mineral wool at each end. No ignition or flaming/molten droplets was observed. The ~10 mm fold-up and the downlighter/recessed-fitting prohibition are NOT findings of this report: they come from FTC 18/284, a fire test on a DIFFERENT product (FR Cel 15DV, a single-skin loose-inlay ceiling pan suspended on "9"-clips, 282-490 mm wide) where the Chromadek faces the fire and molten droplets WERE observed. Technopol applies the fold-up and downlighter rule to this board too, as its own conservative instruction — the FRCel core is combustible either way — not as a result of testing this board. Fire-resistance ratings apply only to the tested Stone Wool assemblies: 100 mm non-load-bearing wall FR60 (fixed-joint) / FR30 (unfixed-joint) per FTC 20/011, and the ±195 mm double-studded firewall FR120 per FTC 20/119 (both SANS 10177-2, non-load-bearing). They do NOT extend to the EPS panels or to other build-ups/thicknesses. FIRELAB test reports are valid 5 years or until a change to product composition, manufacturing process or approved supplier (FTC 18/284, 19/117, 20/011, 20/119). The "steel not aluminium, angles/channels >=1.6 mm, stainless rivets" fixing rule for fire-rated Stone Wool walls is Technopol/Isowall installation guidance, not a finding of FTC 20/011 or FTC 20/119 — neither report states a gauge or a fixing material beyond "stainless-steel pop-rivets" (FTC 20/011) and "screws" (FTC 20/119). Apply it as the conservative house rule it is. The Stone Wool core lambda (<=0.035 W/m.K) is a supplier board datasheet value for a 100 mm ETICS external-wall board, not a sandwich-panel core. Technopol's own brochure describes the core as a "predominantly vertical fibre structure" (a lamella): rotating a board to lamella orientation typically raises lambda (one core manufacturer's own data: board 0.035 -> lamella 0.039). A lamella-specific lambda from the actual core supplier has not been confirmed. Reaction-to-fire class B-s1,d0 to SANS 53501-1 (Euroclass) is Technopol's own declaration for the LiteSpan FRCel EPS panel range, profiled or flat, for cores up to 150 mm; it was obtained on the 150 mm panel, the thickest of the range. Ignis IT 24-06-00029 tested only that 150 mm specimen (flat, capped, cold-room application) and its own scope clause does not extend to other thicknesses or to similar products not tested as such - the range declaration is Technopol's, not the lab's. It is a material classification and not a fire-resistance (minutes) rating: per clause 6.13 of the report it is valid where the panel is used as insulation, NOT as a fire division. Separately, FTC 19/117 (FIRELAB, SANS 10177-11) classified this ceiling/wall board itself B/B1/2/H for cores to 120 mm, panel ends encapsulated in 100 mm of mineral wool - genuine board-specific evidence under a different test protocol, not superseded by the Euroclass declaration. Where a rated division is required, a fire-resistance test to SANS 10177-2 governs - see the Stone Wool assemblies, which carry real FR ratings.
